I’ve been having some Real Name vs. Pseudonym troubles as of late. It can be tricky maintaining both. I always stumble over which one to use when I’m introducing myself. Generally speaking, I use my Real Name when I’m with my family and close friends, when I’m handling grown-up matters (rent, employment, taxes, etc.), and when I’m introducing myself to someone who doesn’t seem to be closely linked to the queer, kink, or porn communities in any way. If I’m meeting people through Good Dyke Porn, or if I’m on a porny business trip, I generally only go by Spats. If I’m meeting people in Vancouver who seem as though they may be interested in my work, sometimes I’ll use both. Sometimes I’ll follow my girlfriend’s lead if it’s one of her friends, as she also balances two names for two different communities. (more…)
