Saturday, October 15th, 2011Occupy Vancouver is starting today. Our police department makes a lot of important announcements via Twitter and NOT in person, so I strongly advise anyone Occupying with a smartphone to follow them. (During the riots, my girlfriend and I read over Twitter that the cops would be using tear gas in certain areas…from the safety of our own home. Unfortunately, many people actually in the area were unaware of this.)

Volunteer Opportunity: Condomania!
Thursday, August 11th, 2011For two years, I volunteered with PlanetAhead-Condomania, a sex-positive education program within Vancouver Coastal Health. As one of their educators, I taught workshops in high school classrooms to students ranging from grades 8-10 (around ages 12-15, for non-Vancouver folks). These workshops focused on:
- STI transmission & safer sex barriers (with a condom demo also featuring the female/insertive condom)
- effective methods of communication
- identifying and respecting personal boundaries
- giving and receiving consent (verbal and physical)
- recognizing gender stereotypes and how they affect your personal gender
- what it means to be transgender or intersex (more…)
VanPride 2011!

But when I wasn’t sleeping, many many things happened!
Vancouver residents & Pride tourists may have spotted Mr. Shayne Forster on the cover of WE this week! Their cover story for Pride [BORN THIS WAY: Trans men let it all hang out] focused on the development of Shayne & Jack Fox’s T-Bodies projects, including the transmen featured in their 2012 Manamorphosis calendar. The picture I posted in my previous entry (the quick blurb about sTeam) is the November photo of the calendar, and was used in the WE article! (more…)

Canucks Riot
Friday, June 17th, 2011A few people were puzzled by my Twitter feed last night. After remaining absent from Twitter through most of the day, I began posting frantically throughout the evening:
-Holy fucking hockey riots! Everything downtown is getting smashed and set on fire. This is embarrassing, Vancouver!
-Cops are arresting rioters downtown. Transit has been compromised and the Cambie street bridge is closed. Get out safely, everyone!
-Just saw a fight break out near Broadway and Cambie. Get home, get home! (more…)
